blue

marine blue cabochon bauble earrings $35 from jcrew. i love them.

fash hearts helly

in terms of "gear" i am of the opinion that helly hansen is the best, these are two of my favs from www.hellynewengland.com (the newport store). i really like the fleece in all white but the pic wasn't available. i speak from personal experience that helly fleeces are invaluable; they wear anywhere.

yikes!

this world is true horror. i was planning to watch some scarey movies tonight, but tori spelling may have frightened me enough. "people.com" really sneaks in some scarey images every once in awhile, you can be reading a perfectly fun gossipy article and then you scroll down and BAM! tori spelling in witches gear. this should not be allowed.

cocktails for grown-up goblins...

fun ideas to spice up trick or treats thanks to martha stewart:

Ghost in the Graveyard (serves 1)
2 oz black vodka
2 oz creme de caco
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
pinch of finely ground nutmeg

in a glass combine vodka, creme de cacao, and set aside. place a scoop of ice cream in a highball glass, and slowly pour vodka mixture over ice cream. garnish with nutmeg and serve asap.

.
Berry Scary Martini (serves 1)
1 cup ice
1 oz black vodka
2 oz cherry juice
Fresh raspberries and blueberries, for garnish

Combine ice, vodka, and cherry juice in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass. Thread raspberries and blueberries onto a cocktail skewer, and place in drink. Serve asap.

I can't decide which one I want more....

so maybe you had too much weekend???? (and i realize today is tuesday)

everyone's skin looks dull and lifeless now and then, whether it be the result of too much weekend (as i call it) or just a lack of sleep, everyone searches for a solution to look "alive" again. most of us use the conventional methods of repair such as concealer or bronzer/ blush or whatever. some people get inventive and try some variety of facial scrub (which really only winds up creating annoyance in the shower). thus, world i have a solution to the problem of "too much weekend" and it's become's reveal enzyme peel. here's the skinny; all you do is put it on your face and massage it in for 1-2 minutes and then rinse off in the shower. Done! presto, chango! no one knows the wiser and you look alive again. if you don't trust me, become offers a free sampling of its products, just fill in your address etc. @http://www.becomebeauty.com/usa/Sampleform_usa.html trust me, this stuff is like a little bit of miracle in a jar
enjoy!

every little bit helps

daily candy told me this morning about ReProduct greeting cards. these cards are kinda amazing because they come in pre-paid, "2-way" envelopes, thus once the recipient reads them they can send them back to shaw carpets, which will then use the old cards to line the backs of their carpets. what a revolutionary idea! who would've thought it? so try it world, because every little bit helps.

E.L.F.

Eyes Lips & Face cosmetics (www.eyeslipsface.com) is a great resource for make-up on the web. My favorite is their "design your own compact" feature; the compact is $1 and each eye shadow or lip color you add to it is also $1 each; AMAZING. ELF also carries a full line of traditional products including brush sets. Plus, their predesigned sets make for fun gifts.

bling bling

faceted ring from banana republic ($38)
just the right amount of bling

yet another reason to AVOID VICTORIA'S SECRET

The spice girls are selling their new album there (hahaha it's a "greatest hits" collection). ICK. this is only more proof that VC is marketed solely towards teenagers, and not towards adult women. The whole chain just incenses me. Cheesy pink patterns in undersized styles. They exclude normal women from purchase of their inventory, and it is for this reason i hate them.

who loves pink?

not fash.

out of hand

two great finds from the out of hand boutique (www.oohboutique.com)

bee necklace $20
tote $55 (love the brass hardware)

arm candy

1) michael kors $298 @nordstrom.com
2) charles david $358 @charlesdavid.com
3) forever21 $34 @forever21.com

this season candy colored bags are all the rage.....bright, shiney, and fun! i was inspired by a fun yellow patent bag i spotted over the weekend. yellow is such an under-utilized color and i personally love the infusion of the shade into this season's fashions. however, the green one is fun too!

gap

gap's european collection invokes sophisticated style into the store's classic casual image. dress $79 at gap.com. p.s. almost all of the european collection is on sale online now.

dumbledore is gay?

according to jk rowling dumbledore is now gay/ was gay? and i ask you, "how did i miss this?" i personally am harry potter obsessed and have read all the books more then once. basically i'm just annoyed and chalk this up to another publicity stunt- ugh.

if i had a spare $1,600

this is what i'd buy!
mackenzie-childs thistle chandelier $1,600

carry on

murval black bag @givesimple.com for $26, plus coordinating accessories. funky parisian pattern and hermesque style, what's not too like?

monogrammed part deux

i firmly believe in monogramming whatever you can (within reason people) which is why i heart this perfume tray from ida claire ($18). super cute.

what are you wearing friday night?

i think it's important to state that fashion transcends through all layers of one's clothing, not just the outer portions. a truly stylish lady is well put together right down to her under-garments. UO helps with this, these finds are incredibly cute and each piece is under $40. p.s. everyone should own a slip....you just need one.

Philadelphia/ ISO

just a post to see if anyone is from philly.....i'm ISO of an apartment and thus far my search has not been very promising....any tips/ insight is appreciated. thanks

hmmmmm.....

as we all know ballet flats are all the rage, however as i didn't know old navy has some pretty sassy one's which are quite similar to those featured at jcrew, only at a fraction of the price.

1) gold ballets $16 @oldnavy.com

2.) sequined ballets $19 @oldnavy.com

3) twinkle ballets $165 @jcrew.com

you do the math.

non-frumpy sweater dress

everyone has heard about the "sweater dress" trend of this season and everyone has seen what stores believe to be "fashionable" sweater dress.....unacceptable. this generally means heavy, drapey, bell-sleeved horrors....however someone at banana republic got it right (thank God). this little blue dress from banana comes easy at $118, however i don't condone the boots.

happy shopping!

my one true love....

Brahmin "vivian" bag @ dillards (someone tell santa)

what is this?

according to "daily candy" this am this is the new "racing stripes manicure." the root of this trend is said to be in the interest of economics and time; i vote NO. paint the whole nail people, this just looks ridiculous. i chalk this up to the same type of trend as the whole dark roots thing (featured in this month's Vogue)....just plain bad.

Sparkling Harvest Cocktail

Ingredients:
2 c. pomegranate juice
2 c. cranberry juice
1 bottle port wine½ c. honey
½ c. brown sugar
1 tsp. ground clove
2 whole cinnamon sticks
1 whole anise or 1/3 tsp. anise

10 Black Mission figs, cut in half
2 small bunches champagne grapes, off the vine (save one bunch for garnish)

a little blonde birdie told me.......

that Vera Wang's "simply vera..." line @Kohls.com is outstanding, so i did some investigating, and it definitely is. Classic clean line vera style without sacrifice in quality. My fav were the sheets, sophiscated, high threat count....perfect. Please note picture order, dress, robe, bed......

Timeless

the styles from Angela Moore have always been timeless staples to any preppy girl's wardrobe, however these new fall editions are just a whole new level of fantastic, and they work for the office. love it!
